Tuen Mun–Chek Lap Kok Link Tunnel, Highways Department

Site Location
Tuen Mun–Chek Lap Kok, New Territories -
Description
The Tuen Mun-Chek Lap Kok Link provides a strategic linkage between the Northwest New Territories and the Hong Kong Boundary Crossing Facilities (HKBCF), the North Lantau and the Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA).
The 9km long dual two-lane carriageway reduces the travelling time between Tuen Mun South and HKIA from 30 minutes to 10 minutes. It not only helps divert traffic flows to relieve the existing traffic conditions of North Lantau, the Lantau Link and Tuen Mun Road, but also provides an alternative route to the airport, thus reinforcing the HKIA as a regional aviation hub. The public address system in all Service Galleries and Tunnel Buildings spans a distance of over 6 km and 7 buildings, and the 2 x 2-panel video wall enables the traffic control centre to see feeds from all CCTV cameras along the tunnel. -
